In June of 1993, Meadowview suffered a horrendous blow when their horses, Nemo and Kashba were killed in a horrific trailer accident.  This epitaph was written by Eileen Poole, in remembrance of her friends.

Remembrance - Remembering Greatness

In Memory of a Gentleman and his Lady

Nemo        1977 - June 7, 1993

Kashba        1981 - June 7, 1993

We've just lost two of our best friends.  They were victims of a senseless traffic accident, the nightmare of anyone hauling a horse trailer.  They were the epitome of Trakehners to the end, bold, brave, honest and trusting.  They died taking the terrible force of the accident, saving our lives.
Nemo was such a beautiful animal, with a chiseled face, kind eye and the attitude of a true aristocrat.  His personality could best be described as gregarious, and his love of an audience will, I'm sure, be long remembered.  In his everyday clothes, it was not uncommon to see him with little children on his back, patiently standing as each one dismounted and the next child climbed aboard.  At shows, he was a tough competitor in the jumper ring, dressage competition, and combined driving.  He always maintained a look of dignity and he took care of his rider, no matter how dangerous the situation.  His foals are outstanding and are just now becoming known in all facets of competition.
Kashba was the answer to a mare owners dream, talented in competition and an excellent mother.  She was always kind and serene in her manner, never failing to nicker to us when we entered the barn.  She was exciting to ride and I always felt special when on her back.  This was to be her last year of competition and we were so excited about the many babies that she and Nemo would have together, but this was not to be.
It is fitting that Nemo and Kashba should die together.  She was his stable mate, trailer mate and he always kept an eye on her in the pasture, as he truly loved her the best.
I feel privileged to have known two such wonderful horses.  Time will pass and our grief will seem less acute, but their memory will never fade.

Good Bye Dear Friends, Rest In Peace.
